New Buffalo went on the road to Covert for the 2nd of back to back games to try and extend their recent run of good play. As in the game versus Michigan Lutheran the Bison started quickly and netted 2 in under 10 minutes of the start of the game. Zane Lauricella continued his recent goal scoring form after he was the recipient of some great passing through the Midfield and Strikers that ended with Josh Workman finding Lauricella making an angled run in from the right side. Lauricella finished with his second touch. The 2nd Bison goal came up the middle as Sotiri Margaritis combined with Patrick Griffin for a 5 pass sequence that ended when Griffin laid the ball back nicely to the 6 yard area in the path of Margaritis who first timed it to the back of the net. New Buffalo lost their way briefly in the middle of the half and Covert wrestled back the possession and momentum and scored on a nice shot from the right side to the upper left corner that was just out of the reach of a diving Gaige Rice. New Buffalo grounded themselves and were able to see the half out holding a narrow 2-1 lead. The Bison found their game again in the 2nd half and dominated possesion and held Covert to long outside shots that did not trouble Rice. On the offensive end the same scoring pair repeated their 1st half performance when Lauricella once again crashed in from the right side receiving a great ball from Margaritis and was able to one time a shot into the roof of the net. Margaritis finished off the scoring after getting a ball from Nick Keen and after freeing himself at the top of the box with a good dribble hit a wicked left foot to the far right side netting. The back four of Haskins, R. Thorn, Fadden, and Kucera kept Covert at bay and the Bison collected the 4-1 victory. New Buffalo gets some well deserved practice time until they travel to Cassopolis next Wednesday for a big BCS Divisional match.
